Dubai RTA Opens Registration for 60 Special Number Plates Ahead of Oct 24 Auction

Auction Details

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai will hold its 121st open auction for distinctive vehicle number plates on 24 October. Sixty special plates will be offered, including notable two‑digit combinations such as BB 80, BB 18 and CC 44. The plates will feature codes including AA, BB, CC, H, U, V, W, X, Y and Z, with numbers chosen for their distinctive combinations and ease of recall. The event will take place at the Hilton Dubai Al Habtoor City Hotel.

Registration Process

Registration opened on 19 October and can be completed through the RTA website at www.rta.ae or at Customer Happiness Centres located in Umm Ramool, Deira and Al Barsha. Bidders must possess a Dubai traffic file and submit a security‑deposit cheque for Dh25,000, which is refunded to those who do not win a plate. In addition, a non‑refundable participation fee of Dh120 is required.

Payment and Conditions

Participants will be welcomed at the venue from 14:00 on 24 October. There is no prescribed limit on the number of distinctive plates an individual may acquire, provided they comply with the approved terms and conditions. Successful bidders must settle payment for their winning plates within ten working days of the auction date; failure to meet this deadline may result in forfeiture of the security deposit and inclusion on the list of non‑compliant bidders.

RTA’s Objective

A five‑percent value‑added tax will apply to the sale of each plate. The RTA states that its open auctions aim to provide a variety of distinctive registration numbers to match customer preferences and to support Dubai’s vehicle plate market, which attracts private individuals and investors seeking exclusive number combinations.
