Dubai Currents
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 13 October 2026
The short version
Dubai Currents is a news website, and you can read it without an account. We collect very little, we do not sell what we collect, and we use it to keep the site running, safe and a bit more convenient for you. The sections below explain this in plain language.
What we collect when you visit
Like any website, our servers record technical details of each request in logs: your IP address, the page requested, the time, your browser and device type, and the response given. We use these logs to keep the site secure, to find faults and to understand load. They are kept for a limited period and then removed or reduced to aggregate figures.
Cloudflare in front of the site
The site sits behind Cloudflare, which acts as a content delivery network and security layer. Requests pass through its network, and it may set technical cookies or process IP addresses to deliver pages faster and filter abusive traffic. This processing is part of how the site is delivered safely.
Cookies and what your browser remembers
We use cookies and local storage only for essential functions and for remembering a choice you make. For example, the site may store your preferred language, or a “my district” or “my area” selection, in your browser’s local storage so you do not have to pick it again. That value stays on your device. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings, and the site will keep working, only without the memory.
Aggregate counting
We may use privacy-friendly analytics to see aggregate statistics, such as which sections are read most and roughly how many people visit. These tools are meant to count visits without building profiles of individuals or following you across other sites.
If you write to us
When you send something through the contact form, we receive the details you enter, usually a name, a way to reach you and your message. We use them only to respond to you and to handle the matter you raised, such as a correction or a rights request. We keep them as long as needed for that purpose and a reasonable time afterward.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not use your data to build advertising profiles.
- We do not ask readers to create accounts to read the news.
Your say over your data
Depending on where you live, laws such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation, the UAE Personal Data Protection Law and the Saudi Personal Data Protection Law may give you rights over your personal data. These can include asking what we hold about you, asking us to correct or delete it, and objecting to certain uses. We have written this statement with those principles in mind, but we do not claim any certification, and nothing here is a guarantee of compliance with any particular law. To make a request, use the contact page and tell us what you would like us to do. We may need to confirm that the request comes from you.
Links and other shores
Our stories link to outside sources. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control, so read their policies before sharing information there.
Children
The site is a general news service and is not directed at young children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
When this statement changes
If our practices change, we will update this page and revise the date at the top. Please check it from time to time.
