Dubai opens winter camp registrations at Al Ruwayyah with 120% capacity boost

UAE nationals can now reserve winter camping spots at Dubai’s Al Ruwayyah, where capacity has been expanded by about 120 percent for the 2026–2027 season, the municipality said.
Dubai Municipality announced that registration for the season, running from 1 November 2026 to 30 April 2027, is open. The site now accommodates 600 camps, up significantly from previous years.
New camping options introduced
For the first time, 50 dedicated caravan plots are available, along with 10 fully equipped camps that can be rented daily — an option for those who prefer not to bring their own equipment.
Double-sized camping plots of up to 800 square metres are also offered again this season, alongside the standard 400-square-metre plots.
How to book
Reservations can be made through Dubai Municipality’s wintercamp.dm.gov.ae website or the DubaiNow app. Seasonal bookings range from three to six months. Separate booking options apply for caravan plots and daily rental camps, subject to requirements.
Once permits are issued and plot boundaries marked, seasonal permit holders can design and equip their camps as needed. Campers must follow approved regulations, including installing temporary fencing and using the camps exclusively for family purposes and camping activities.
More space for families and events
The municipality has set aside 10 spaces for winter events and gatherings, such as family activities, community programmes, recreational experiences and seasonal markets. Dedicated areas have also been allocated to participating government entities, which can set up and equip camps according to their needs.
Bader Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, said the expanded season offers more opportunities for Emirati families to enjoy the outdoors.
“By significantly increasing capacity and introducing new camping options, recreational facilities and spaces for community activities, we are expanding opportunities for UAE nationals and their families to enjoy the winter season in a safe, well-organised environment,” he said.
The improvements are part of a longer-term plan to develop Al Ruwayyah, with further upgrades to facilities, services and visitor experiences planned for future seasons. “Our ambition extends beyond the enhancements introduced this season,” Anwahi added.
Opportunities for local businesses
Small and medium-sized enterprises can offer food and beverage services, desert activities and recreational experiences at the destination. The initiative aims to support local entrepreneurs while giving campers and visitors access to more services.
“By encouraging local businesses to introduce new services and recreational experiences, we aim to support entrepreneurship while expanding the range of activities available to visitors,” Anwahi said.
