Lt. Gen. Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA Dubai), has said that the values of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan remain a guiding force for the nation’s development.
Founder’s Day reaffirms national commitment
Speaking on the occasion of Zayed the Founder’s Day, Al Marri noted that the commemoration underscores the UAE’s dedication to the legacy of its Founding Father. President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan designated 7 January as Zayed the Founder’s Day, a move Al Marri described as reflecting the leadership’s resolve to preserve Sheikh Zayed’s national and humanitarian heritage for coming generations.
Nation-building vision rooted in unity
Al Marri characterised the day as a renewal of the principles upon which the UAE was established, emphasising Sheikh Zayed’s vision of unity, people-centred development and generosity. “The formation of the union went beyond bringing together the seven emirates. It was a nation-building vision founded on solidarity, belonging, tolerance and respect for humanity,” he stated.
He added that safeguarding Sheikh Zayed’s legacy means translating his values into concrete actions and passing them on to future generations, ensuring they grasp the vision and sacrifices behind the UAE’s progress and prosperity.
GDRFA inspired by Sheikh Zayed’s leadership
Al Marri said that GDRFA Dubai draws inspiration from Sheikh Zayed’s approach to leadership and public service, which is reflected in the directorate’s focus on service excellence, innovation, efficiency and respect for human dignity. He noted that Zayed the Founder’s Day serves as a reminder that nations must preserve their roots while building for the future.
Sheikh Zayed will remain a symbol of national unity and an enduring source of inspiration, Al Marri concluded, stressing the importance of upholding his values while working towards a brighter future for generations to come.
