Dubai Police Impounded 10,539 Vehicles and Bicycles in 2025, Issued 4,709 Jaywalking Fines

Dubai Police announced that during 2025 they seized 10,539 vehicles and bicycles across the emirate. The total consisted of 3,434 motor vehicles and 7,105 bicycles and e-bicycles, the authority stated. In the same period, law enforcement officers handed out 4,709 fines for jaywalking — the act of crossing streets at locations not designated for pedestrians.

Complaints Trigger Field Teams

The clampdown followed a wave of public grievances. Dubai Police said it received 750 reports about excessive vehicle noise and 926 complaints regarding reckless driving. In response, specialised field teams were deployed across six districts to monitor violations, step up patrols, and focus on areas where dangerous driving and disruptive behaviour frequently recur, according to the force.

Analysis Drives Future Action

An examination of offences linked to excessive noise, reckless driving, and illegal vehicle modifications identified the types of vehicles most commonly involved in such infractions. Dubai Police’s Commander-in-Chief, Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, explained that these insights will be used to shape targeted enforcement operations, identify priority groups for awareness campaigns, and strengthen preventive measures aimed at reducing hazardous driving.

Pedestrian Penalties Under UAE Law

The authority also reiterated its warnings to pedestrians about jaywalking. Under Article 89 of the UAE’s Federal Traffic Law, individuals who ignore traffic signals or cross roads at unauthorised points face a fine of 400 dirhams.
