Dubai’s Crown Prince, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has given the green light to an Urban Centers Development Plan backed by investments of more than Dh2 billion. The initiative is designed to create integrated communities and underpin sustainable expansion in the emirate.
Targets for real estate and quality of life
The plan aims to lift the combined real estate value of urban centres by Dh20 billion. It prioritises better living conditions, stronger economic returns and more efficient infrastructure, while keeping costs under control.
Under the scheme, the proportion of Dubai’s population living within walking distance of metro stations is set to rise to 74 percent. Public service coverage is also due to increase, reaching 85 percent across the emirate.
Population planning policy approved
Sheikh Hamdan revealed that the Executive Council had additionally endorsed a Sustainable Population Planning Policy. The policy is meant to match population and economic growth, ensuring that services are adequate for the emirate’s future requirements.
