Palm Jumeirah pedestrian bridges under construction, completion set for 2027

Work has started on two pedestrian bridges at Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah, a project aimed at improving safety for walkers and reducing traffic congestion on the man-made island. The initiative is a joint effort by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Holding Community Management.
Bridge locations and timelines
The first bridge is being built near the Shoreline area at the entrance to Palm Jumeirah, with completion expected in June 2027. The second bridge, located at Golden Mile next to the retail frontages, is due to be finished in October 2027.
Together, the two bridges will have a combined capacity of 2,700 pedestrians per hour. RTA officials said this capacity exceeds current demand and is designed to accommodate future growth. The project is expected to benefit around 16,000 residents living on the Palm.
Official comments on the project
Hussain Al Banna, Chief Executive Officer of RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, said the project demonstrates the strategic partnership between the RTA and Dubai Holding to integrate infrastructure and road network projects with major developments. He added that it builds on existing cooperation to deliver “integrated traffic solutions that respond to current and future growth requirements, improve connectivity between areas and key facilities, enhance safety and accessibility, and support sustainable urban development across the emirate.”
Francis Gianni, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Holding Community Management, said the new bridges would “enhance accessibility and connectivity across Palm Jumeirah, while supporting safer pedestrian movement and smoother traffic flow.” He noted that the investment reflects a commitment to “creating future-ready communities that put people and their everyday experience at the centre.”
