New pedestrian bridge links Dubai Metro to Etihad Rail at Jumeirah Golf Estates

New pedestrian bridge links Metro to Etihad Rail

On Thursday 15 October 2026, a covered pedestrian bridge opened at Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station, allowing Dubai Metro passengers to walk directly to Etihad Rail’s Dubai Al Yalayis Station without using a taxi or bus.

Walking route and shuttle alternative

The bridge provides a five- to seven-minute walk from the Metro station to the rail station. Passengers can still use the existing Etihad Rail shuttle bus that stops beside the Metro station; the bridge does not replace the bus but offers an alternative, especially for those with luggage, children or who prefer not to walk.

Access and facilities

Entrances to the bridge are located at both Exit 1 and Exit 2 of Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station, with clear signage pointing toward the Etihad Rail Passenger Station. The enclosed route includes escalators and moving walkways.

Integration with other transport

The new link brings together three public-transport modes at one point: the Dubai Metro, RTA buses and Etihad Rail. The RTA bus stop outside the Metro station remains part of the interchange, letting bus passengers alight near the bridge and continue toward the rail station. Likewise, travelers arriving by Etihad Rail from Abu Dhabi or Fujairah can walk across to Jumeirah Golf Estates and board the Red Line.

Dubai Al Yalayis Station began passenger operations on September 30, connecting Dubai with Etihad Rail’s inter-emirate network. Until the bridge opened, the final leg of the journey required a shuttle bus or road travel. With the bridge now in place, Metro passengers can exit via Exit 1 or 2, follow the signs, use the covered walkway and reach Al Yalayis Station without entering a car.
