Dubai Ruler Pays Tribute to Police Major General After 50-Year Career

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Ruler of Dubai, expressed his condolences on Thursday, 22 October 2026, following the death of Major General Khalifa bin Dhaen Al Mheiri, a veteran officer who dedicated half a century to the emirate’s police force.

Heartfelt Message from the Ruler

In a post on the social media platform X, Sheikh Mohammed described Al Mheiri as one of the UAE’s most devoted men and a dedicated leader within Dubai Police. He noted that the late officer faithfully served the Al Maktoum family and the people of the UAE over five decades of continuous service. The Dubai Ruler accompanied his tribute with a black-and-white photograph of the deceased.

Sheikh Mohammed prayed for Al Mheiri, asking God to grant him a place in paradise. “Dubai never forgets its men of distinction. May God have mercy on you, Abu Mohammed, and grant your family and loved ones patience and solace. Indeed, we belong to God, and to Him we shall return,” he wrote.

Early Life and Career

Major General Al Mheiri was born in the Jumeirah area of Dubai when the district was still a modest settlement of tents and palm trees. He joined the military service at the age of 14 and later became one of the earliest members of Dubai Police, rising through the ranks over his lengthy career.

Legacy and Contributions

According to Jumeira University, an institution founded by Al Mheiri, he was widely respected by officers and dignitaries across the UAE. He earned the nickname “The Father” and was regarded as the dean of policing in the country. The university also stated that Al Mheiri played a key role in the development of modern Dubai, founding several organisations and initiatives, and was known for his dedication to community values, generosity, and leadership.
