New Waterpark Announced
At the Rise summit in Dubai on Wednesday 14 October 2026, Fernando Eiroa, chief executive of Dubai Holding Entertainment, said a new waterpark will open within months.
He described the attraction as summer‑focused, quoting: “It’s specifically for the summer and there is a lot of water around it.” Eiroa confirmed the park will be added to the Dubai Parks and Resorts portfolio.
Speaking about the broader entertainment landscape, he stated: “Dubai has been and is very well known for amazing hotels, different experiences, and now it is an entertainment destination.”
Global Village Milestones
Fernando pointed to Global Village as a standout success, noting it now draws nearly 50,000 visitors a day on average, overtaking Disney’s Magic Kingdom in Florida as the world’s most visited theme park by average daily attendance.
He remarked: “This is an amazing achievement. We are in a much smaller country than the US. Having a theme park where we receive an average of 50,000 people a day is an unbelievable achievement.”
He said the park opens its 31st season today, attributing its longevity to listening to guests and offering something new each year, and added: “When we open Global Village, people tell me this is when we know the good weather is coming.”
Parks Refurbishment and New Attractions
Fernando observed that visitor expectations have shifted, saying: “What I have seen in the last few years is that people want to be part of it. It’s more active entertainment versus passive entertainment.”
He highlighted the Real Madrid theme park at Dubai Parks and Resorts, the world’s first football‑themed park, where families compete in football challenges.
Regarding the parks’ recent status, he said Dubai Parks and Resorts reopened last week after a six‑month closure, using the downtime for refurbishment, and noted: “We took the opportunity to add restaurants, refurbish some attractions, and do maintenance.”
He added: “We have reopened all parks and the demand is amazing.”
Furthermore, the group recently launched 14 new attractions at Riverland, including go‑karts, bowling and Lamborghini simulators.
