Dubai Ride 2026: RTA warns of major delays on Sheikh Zayed Road and other routes on Sunday
By Business & Property Desk1 min read
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has alerted motorists to anticipate significant traffic disruptions on multiple roads on Sunday, 1 November, because of the Dubai Ride 2026 cycling event.
Road closures and timing
The authority urged drivers to plan their trips ahead of time, noting that delays are expected from 3:00 AM until 9:30 AM. Sheikh Zayed Road will be converted into a cycling lane as the Dubai Ride returns during the opening weekend of the Dubai Fitness Challenge.
A map provided by the RTA highlights the specific roads that will be closed or affected by the event.
Event routes and participation
The free cycling event offers two options: a 12-kilometre route along Sheikh Zayed Road intended for more experienced cyclists, and a 4-kilometre Downtown Family Route designed for children, families, and beginners.
All participants are required to wear a bib number; riders without one will not be permitted onto the routes.
Schedule and arrival advice
The event is scheduled to start at 6:00 AM, with the cycling routes opening at 6:15 AM. All riders must begin their ride by 7:30 AM, and the routes will close at 8:00 AM.
Organisers have advised participants to arrive between 4:00 AM and 6:00 AM, especially those driving to a designated start gate. Because road closures will be in place early in the morning, late arrivals risk being unable to join the event.
