Thousands cycle through Dubai as Sheikh Zayed Road turns into bike route for Dubai Ride 2026

Thousands of cyclists took over Sheikh Zayed Road on Sunday morning as the city’s main thoroughfare was transformed into a bicycle lane for the Dubai Ride 2026 event.
The free community ride, part of the opening weekend of the Dubai Fitness Challenge 2026, offered two routes: a 12-kilometre loop along Sheikh Zayed Road and a four-kilometre family-friendly circuit through Downtown Dubai.
Participants passed several landmarks including the Museum of the Future, the Dubai Water Canal, Burj Khalifa and Dubai Opera.
Road closures and diversions
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced temporary closures on three major roads from 3am to 9:30am on Sunday, 1 November. Motorists were advised to use alternative routes such as Upper Financial Centre Street, Zabeel Palacee Street, Al Wasl Road and Al Khail Road.
Metro extended hours
Du bai Metr o operated extended hours from 3am until midnight to help participants travel to and from the event.
