Sharjah Introduces Three Bus Links to Al Dhaid Rail Station as Dubai Opens Metro Bridge

Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has launched three new bus routes to Al Dhaid’s Etihad Rail station, while Dubai opened a pedestrian bridge linking Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station with the emirate’s Al Yalayis rail stop.

Al Dhaid became part of the UAE’s national passenger railway on September 30, giving Sharjah its first Etihad Rail station and connecting the emirate to Fujairah and Abu Dhabi.

The announcement was published on Friday, 16 October 2026 at 12:04 PM.

New Bus Routes Connect Al Dhaid Rail Station

SRTA announced that passengers can now use three public bus services designated ER1, ER2 and ER3. ER1 runs between Al Madam and the Etihad Rail station in Al Dhaid, ER2 links Al Sajaa with the same station, and ER3 connects central Sharjah to the rail stop. These routes provide two‑way bus connections, offering residents of the three areas an additional way to reach the railway network.

SRTA’s Service Goals

The bus services are part of the authority’s broader effort to strengthen links between different public‑transport modes and to make commuting easier for users across Sharjah.

Dubai Metro Link Improves Rail Transfer

On Thursday, 15 October, a covered pedestrian bridge opened between Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station and Etihad Rail’s Dubai Al Yalayis Station. Passengers can enter the bridge via Exit 1 or Exit 2 of the metro station; the passage includes escalators and moving walkways, with a typical transfer time of five to seven minutes. An Etihad Rail shuttle bus continues to operate, giving travellers the choice of walking or taking the bus between the two stations.

Dubai Al Yalayis Station began passenger operations on September 30, linking the emirate to the wider inter‑emirate rail network.

Timetables for the new Sharjah bus routes are available for passengers to consult.
