Dubai Police have cautioned pedestrians against crossing roads unsafely, reiterating that violators face a fine of Dh400 under Article 89 of the Federal Traffic Law. The penalty applies to those who ignore traffic signals or cross at locations not designated for pedestrians.
Brigadier urges compliance at crossings
Brigadier Majid Sultan Al Suwaidi, Director of the General Department of Police Stations, called on pedestrians to use official crossings, ensure no vehicles are approaching, and obey pedestrian signals at intersections. “Road safety is a shared responsibility. Everyone has a role to play in following traffic regulations and helping create safer roads for all,” he said.
Awareness campaign targets pedestrians and drivers
The reminder coincides with a broader awareness campaign launched by the authority to promote pedestrian safety, encourage responsible road behaviour, and reduce traffic accidents. The campaign also addresses motorists, urging them to stay alert, lower their speed, and yield to pedestrians at designated crossings, especially in busy and densely populated areas.
