Dubai Police have cautioned motorists against sudden swerving and unsafe lane changes, warning that such manoeuvres can lead to serious accidents. Drivers who violate the rules face a Dh1,000 fine and four black points on their licence.
Social media safety campaign
In a road safety message posted on social media with the hashtag #RoadSafety, police said sudden swerving endangers both the driver and other road users, and is among the leading causes of serious traffic incidents across the emirate.
Penalties for unsafe driving
The warning, issued amid concerns over dangerous driving on the emirate’s busy roads, reiterates that motorists making abrupt or unsafe lane changes will be penalised with a Dh1,000 fine and four black points. Authorities urge drivers to stay within their designated lanes, remain alert to traffic around them, and use indicators well in advance when changing lanes to give other motorists adequate notice.
Call for lane discipline
Dubai Police continue to stress the importance of proper lane discipline and adherence to traffic regulations. They encourage responsible driving practices as a key factor in preventing accidents and maintaining safety on the roads of the emirate.
